Among the local writers of Nuoro is the famous Nobel prize winner for literature Grazia Deledda. Her house of birth features a museum dedicated to her life and works (open all year round). The writings of other writers from Nuoro such as Salvatore Satta, the poet Sebastiano Satta and Marcello Fois, contemporary writer, are also famous.
Of Nuoro’s architecture, the Satta Square stands out. In the heart of the old town, this square was dedicated to the poet Sebastiano Satta and was designed and built by the artist Costantino Nivola.
