Sardinia is a place renowned for its untouched landscape, it is possible to go for long distances without seeing any trace of human civilization (it has a very low demographic density).
There is a particular scent in Sardinia that only a Sardinian can recognise. It is created by the typical Mediterranean vegetation, characterised by unique vegetables rooted in Sardinia’s ancient soil, which produces these characteristical aromas.

Sardinian rural tradition is epitomised by its wild breeding (whereby a species of animal is breed without using any form of enclosure). Integrated perfectly with the environment, tourist services include farm activities for all ages. The Nuorese area has spectacular mountain and coastal landscapes featuring impressive flora and fauna varieties.
In Barbagia there are mufloni in their natural environment, with patience and quiet feet it is possible to spot these animals grazing in the mountains. Another native animal is the Eleonorae Hawk, called so by the explorer La Marmora in honour of the Queen Eleonora d’Arborea. Also worth a visit is the natural park of Gennargentu. |
Other places of interest include: Cala Luna, Cala Mariolu, Mont’Albo, Supramonte, Tiscali, Gorropu, and Ispinigoli. Excursions can be made via various modes of transport (car, 4X4, quad bike, mountain bike).
The speleologia (caving) in Sardinia have two species of interest: the geotritone and the bat.
